Q: I sold something in the last Auction when will I get paid?

A: Payments are made within 21 working days of the Auction.

Q: Why does it take 21 working days to get our money

A: After the auction we have to collect all the funds from the purchasers and this can take some time to arrange. We will always aim to pay out vendors as soon as possible

Q: Do I have to pay anything to sell upfront?

A: No, there are no charges made until an item sells. All fees are taken out of the proceeds

Q: What don’t you sell?

A: Currently we don’t not sell the following items

  • Ivory
  • Guns, Knives, Air rifles or Airsoft
  • Beds

for more info on what we cant sell please ring

Q: I cant get to you for a valuation?

A: N0 problem we offer a no obligation free home valuation, or simply email or WhatsApp pictures

Q: Will my items be sold with online bidding

A: Yes, all items in all of our auctions are sold with Live bidding with easylive.

Q: How do I find out what my items sold for?

A: Once the auction has finished you can click the link in your notification email and that will show all the hammer prices before charges

Q: I bought a lot in your auction will you post it to me?

A: No, at the moment we are unable to post any items won in our auctions. We do however have many packing service companies locally that are more than happy to assist. Please ring for details

Q: I bought a few lots in your sale, when do I have to collect them

A: All lots must be paid for by the Tuesday after the Auction. We do however let people take until the following Friday to collect. So if you cant make it by Tuesday make sure you ring and pay to avoid storage charges.

Q: What does trade mean?

A: Trade is a term you will find in the catalogue, For example a vintage radio consigned to auction may work but the wiring is obsolete and old. Trade means that the item may require professional attention to meet modern regulations before use, so the item may be regarded as for spares and repair.

Q: How many lots do you sell per hour?

A: We have three Auctioneers at Elliotts ranging from 130 to 150 lots per hour

Q: Whats the latest I can get a condition report on an item?

A: We stop taking condition reports at 4pm on the last viewing day

Q: I left a commission bid for a lot, I didn’t get it even though It was the same amount

A: Here we have one of the most common problems and one that most auctioneers will see every Auction.
Explained simply a commission bid is an amount that you are prepared to pay for a lot. This bid is handled by the auctioneer or a member of staff. For example if you left £60 on an item we can only bid up to that amount. However there maybe a bidder in the room that wants it or online. For example the Auctioneer asks for £50, the internet bids at £55 then again at £60, at this point the staff member cannot bid for you. If we do it will increase your bid to £65 which we are not able to do.
There simply cant be more than one highest bidder per lot.
This is the same if two people leave commission bids. Same lot same price. In this case it is first come first serve.
Its frustrating when something you want goes for what you left on it. Hopefully this explains a little better.
